Three Examples Of Before-And-After Wedding Photography That You May Find Appealing

When you hire a wedding photographer to shoot your big day, it's always a good idea to put together a shot list with him or her. You want to ensure that the photographer is ready to snap away at each of the key moments during the ceremony and reception, and building this shot list collaboratively will help to ensure that this is the case. When you're brainstorming the shots that you want, don't exclusively think about single images. Many couples favor before-and-after shots — typically, two photographs that tell a story of something happening. Here are three examples of before-and-after photos that you might want.

The Bouquet Toss

One of the most exciting moments at any wedding reception is the bouquet toss, in which the bride stands with her back turned and tosses her bouquet high in the air where single women attempt to catch it. This is a moment that can work well with a before-and-after image. Your photographer can shoot the bride just as she is releasing the bouquet, and then shoot the women who are scrambling to grab it and/or the woman who has caught it and is holding it up victoriously.

The Toast To The Bride

It's common for wedding receptions to include a toast to the bride, and this important moment is suitable for capturing in a before-and-after manner. There are many different ways that your photographer can execute this series of shots. One method is to shoot the person giving the speech — ideally when he or she has a glass raised — and then also shoot the bride when she is reacting positively to the speech. This sequence may make for a pair of shots that you'll want to frame in a two-part frame and keep in a spot of prominence in your home.

The Drive-Away

At lots of weddings, people gather to watch the happy couple drive away to begin their married life together. This scene presents a good opportunity for shooting before-and-after photos. The "after" image is obviously a shot of the car pulling out of the wedding reception venue, especially if it has been adorned with a "Just Married" sign and other decorations. For the "before" image, there are multiple different options. You might want to have the groom holding the door open for the bride as she climbs in, or perhaps the happy couple smiling and waving to their guests just before they start the car.

Keep these ideas in mind as you work with wedding photography services to plan the specific shots you want to have captured.
